And by cave woman, I mean paleo diet follower! D and I decided that we needed to start eating more healthy foods and taking better care of ourselves, not to mention, lose some weight. I mentioned it a week or so ago in this post. We came to the conclusion that we needed something that would work and something drastic.
In a nutshell, the paleo diet consists of eating like a prehistoric man would have eaten. He ate lots of lean proteins like meat, poultry, and fish in addition to all the fruits and vegetables he could find. Sugars, cereals and grains were almost non-existant, as were tuberous vegetables. That means no traditional carbohydrates like bread, pasta, potatoes, beans, etc. Certain types of oils are okay, but no butter and no salt!
When we first started I told D that I wasn't sure I would be able to do it. I am a carbo-load type of girl. I don't feel full at a meal unless there has been some sort of bread or starchy veggie on my plate.
Well, we're about 2.5 days into this diet and while its been super expensive so far, we're both feeling great and I have to admit that I haven't had any problems feeling full. The idea is that if you're hungry, you should eat. You should eat whatever it takes to make you feel full, and since you're eating lean protein and fruits and veggies, its not really fattening!
So far I've lost about 3 lbs! Can't knock that!
We didn’t know how good we had it.

3 pounds in less than 3 days...whoa! I don't know that I could do that though...I just can't give up my carbs, horrible, I know! Good luck!
ReplyDeletewow, good for you!
ReplyDeleteWooohooo!!! You definitely can't beat 3 lbs! I am a carbaholic so I'm not sure I could do it. I actually don't like meat. Not a vegetarian, just not all that fond of meat.
ReplyDeleteI am now following you, and added you to The Entourage. To be honest, I stalk you so I thought you were already on the list :)
