I'm a twenty-nine year old Army wife currently living near a large Army post. I have an unhealthy obsession with Dr. Pepper, the Internet, cloth diapers, and ridiculous TV shows. I'm a stay at home mom to two beautiful daughters, AJ and Amelia. We also have a 6 year old beagle named Abby who is as dumb as a box of rocks.

Summertime And The Living Is Easy.

I don't know about you, but I love the lazy days of Summer. There's just something to be said about a bonfire, a beer and a brat hot off the grill.

Where we live, we're already in the throws of Summer, the high today is supposed to 95-degrees. We've been attempting to stay cool, but at the same time, we're enjoying the sun and sand!

My in-laws were in town this weekend, and we made a trip up to the big store and bought a few fun things, one being a little plastic kiddie pool for AJ to splash around in and the other being an electric ice cream maker.

Keep an eye on my new cooking blog, This American Kitchen, next week (and all the time) for the recipe we used to make the ice cream and for other Summer-time treats!

Here are a few glimpses into what we've been up to this past weekend:

We had some friends over for a summer dinner and I busted out my Nora Fleming bowl with the beach ball charm on top! It goes perfectly with my Fiestaware.

I had an excess of strawberries after we got our farm box last week, so I canned them! The recipe will be on my food blog in a few days.

We grilled pizza. Yep, we're adventurous like that. It was delish! This recipe will also appear on my food blog in the next week!

And finally, I've spent every waking moment some quality time pinning beautiful things on Pinterest. Megan from Magnolias and Mimosas invited me and I'm so glad she did!

So, as you can see, I've been busy around here, cooking, entertaining, playing and relaxing! Oh, I've also enjoyed some ice cold beers on a friend's boat and eaten homemade ice cream with family. ;)

What are your plans for the summer?

P.S. AJ pictures coming as soon as I can steal get them from my FIL's camera.

  1. Thanks for the shoutout! I lugged along an ice cream mixer for years before actually breaking down and making some for the first time last year. Just a note...only make it from scratch, not a mix! We bought a birthday cake package and added sprinkles (like the package said we could do) and the ice cream turned out grey! Not appetizing.

And what is pin interest? I've heard so many people talking about it but I have no idea what it is or how to join.

  3. Pinterest is so addicting!!! I've been on it for a little while now and I swear I pin multiple things each day! I have a problem. My cousin never should have invited me to it! Happy Pinning! ;)

  5. Oh what I would do for a beer and a brat right now! YUM!! I look forward to your recipes. I'm jealous of your ice cream maker.

My plan is to pop out a kid some time in August. Then I'm going to have a beer dangit!

  6. Sounds great! I love summer, period. Summer days, summer nights. Summer mornings at sunrise. We hit the mid-90s today, too. Whooh! Thank God for AC.

Lots of plans for me this summer! Next weekend, we're heading home to the beach for Memorial Day, the week after that, we're headed to the Bahamas for a little over a week, we'll be doing random little weekend beach trips here and there, and in August, we're going to Ohio to see some of his family on his pre-deployment leave. Lots of traveling!
