I'm a twenty-nine year old Army wife currently living near a large Army post. I have an unhealthy obsession with Dr. Pepper, the Internet, cloth diapers, and ridiculous TV shows. I'm a stay at home mom to two beautiful daughters, AJ and Amelia. We also have a 6 year old beagle named Abby who is as dumb as a box of rocks.

Laundry, Vacuuming and Poison Ivy?

I don't have much to say today based on the fact that I spent my day doing super fun things like eleventeen loads of laundry and vacuuming out my car (yep, it was one of those days).

The other tidbit of excitement here in my life is that I somehow managed to contract poison ivy without ever touching the plant itself. I'm a total winner, here, folks! I'm very, very, very allergic to poison ivy so my doctor said that its possible someone else came into contact with the plant and then the spores jumped from them onto me they touched something that I came into contact with later.

My mom said that its possible that I got it when our neighbors were doing some burning over the weekend. The spores apparently can be carried by smoke and still can cause the rash in severe allergic reactions.

So anyway, regardless of how I contracted the super-gorgeous rash, I'm being treated with a bevy of medications and since I started this regime, I've already noticed a marked improvement!

Other than the case of the mysterious poison ivy, we're just trying to catch up from having tons of family in town the past two weekends. I should be totally caught up about the time AJ and I leave to go to Hometown, USA in two weeks! Isn't that just how it goes?

  1. Awww I'm so sorry. I'm sure it's terribly uncomfortable. My Mom has it right now too...on her chest. No fun at all! :(

I hope it goes away soon!!!

  2. Bobby is super allergic to poison ivy too! And one time by Dad accidentally burned a ton of it and got it in his lungs and all over his body, the Dr. told him it was the worst case he'd ever seen. So sorry you got the itch!

  3. Ewww...poison ivy, that sucks! Especially since it did a sneak attack! I hope it continues to improve. The one thing that actually turned OccDoc's stomach while he was doing some field training was a soldier who laid in poison ivy. OccDoc has seen some pretty gnarly stuff, but poison ivy tops his list. Weird, huh? You should take a picture so I can scare my husband with it. :)

  4. Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry this sounds miserable! I hope you get feeling better soon!
Something that might make you chuckle: Growing up I had a bff that was super allergic to poison ivy. Well, somehow, unknowingly he touched some {yes, he, see where this is leading?} Anyhoo, a few minutes later, before the reaction had set in, he went to the bathroom. Guess where he got poison ivy? ;-) Let's just say he was one embarrassed unhappy camper.
