I'm a twenty-nine year old Army wife currently living near a large Army post. I have an unhealthy obsession with Dr. Pepper, the Internet, cloth diapers, and ridiculous TV shows. I'm a stay at home mom to two beautiful daughters, AJ and Amelia. We also have a 6 year old beagle named Abby who is as dumb as a box of rocks.

Wednesday Workout Update!

The motivation just isn't there. My runs don't seem to be getting any easier and that makes it really hard to get myself up and out there running more than a few times a week. Add that to the fact that this baby refuses to sleep more than a few hours at a time lately and well, you've got a tired mama!

I always feel accomplished after I finish my run, but I may have hit a low this week. Saturday I was out early with AJ in the jogger and someone passed me. Yep. He was running with a jogging stroller as well so its not like I could even tell myself that it was okay. Granted, it happened at about 2.5 miles into my 3 mile run (about the point that I really wonder if I'm going to finish or die), but it still made me feel like crap!

I do have to add here that my run yesterday went really well. I felt good, I ran a good pace (even with the jogger) and it may have rejuvenated me for the rest of the week. I really needed a good run, so thank goodness I dragged myself out yesterday!

With that being said, here's how my week looked:

7/22 Thursday: 3.03 miles with jogger
7/23 Friday: Walked 1.12 miles with stroller
7/24 Saturday: 3.03 miles with jogger
7/27 Tuesday: 2.54 miles with jogger

Total: 9.68 miles

I'm really going to try and get out there running more often this week. I think it will hurt at first, but eventually make a difference in how my runs feel. Wish me luck!

  1. you should try to mix in some cross training - it really helps when you get in a running slump.. do you have on demand? They actually have some pretty good workouts on there!

Good luck with the running!! I have to say that I am a walker, I usually walk for 6 miles at a time. I have tried bike riding but really cant get into it...

  4. I agree with ens. When training for my first half marathon I had to throw in cross training. It will help with your strength and endurance over the long run. But i think you're doing great with your running also. :-)

  5. I just thought I should pop in and say hi! My name is Kate and I'm ALSO a military spouse and actually I'm FROM the middle of nowhere Missouri. BUT...the other thing we have in common??? My blog about my life as a Navy spouse is www.ThisAmericanWife.net! Since we have the same name, i thought it was about time we met! Anyway...stop by and say Hi sometime!

And don't feel bad about your workout schedule, you're waaaay better about the work out thing that I am (especially if you're doing it in MO in the summer!). Reference my recent post "My pants are shrinking." :)

  6. 1. It sounds like your training is going great, especially since this is the pre-training part.

    2. I loved the pictures of AJ at the splash park. That hat is adorable and she looks so tan! (Ok 1 of those things isn't true)

    3. New Record for posts in a month! Congrats! I think you can average 1 a day, that is awesome!
