I'm a twenty-nine year old Army wife currently living near a large Army post. I have an unhealthy obsession with Dr. Pepper, the Internet, cloth diapers, and ridiculous TV shows. I'm a stay at home mom to two beautiful daughters, AJ and Amelia. We also have a 6 year old beagle named Abby who is as dumb as a box of rocks.

Haircut and Other Things

We haven't been all that busy since coming back to Hometown, USA. Yesterday AJ and I went on a little Mama-Daughter lunch date and got some real, honest-to-goodness, hometown food. It was wonderful.

AJ has been waking up super early for whatever reason, so we're all a little tired. She was so tired yesterday that she almost fell asleep in the car on the way to lunch. I'll tell you, I did not have high hopes for how lunch was going to go with a sleepy toddler, but it was great. We were there early enough that it wasn't very crowded, plus its not a sit-down restaurant, so we didn't have to wait around forever for a waiter to come and take our order, bring us our food, etc.

We had another early wake-up again this morning, so when I noticed AJ was laying down on the floor with her blankie watching TV, I knew it was about time for nap. I'm actually pleasantly surprised with how well she's been doing since she is so tired. I guess I'm kind of hoping that this will continue through until next week when we make the drive home. Maybe she'll be so tired by that point that she'll nap the whole way home. Wishful thinking.

As for me, I'm excited. We have a big, fun, busy weekend planned! I'm starting things off right by getting my first haircut in a long time(since AJ was a newborn?). I think I'm going to do something drastic. I'm ready for a change. Plus, anything other than a trim would be drastic based on how long my hair is now. After my hair cut, we're heading to the in-laws for dinner. Tomorrow morning AJ and I have a breakfast date with one of my roommates from college who lives in the area. We're going to the best breakfast place around, so I'm definitely looking forward to that.

I'm planning on getting my hair cut like one of these ladies below. What do you think?

I like the length of LC's cut without the bangs, though.

Heidi's hair looks great, but mine will never stay styled like this.

I like the way Jenn has her's styled in this picture.

Gwyneth's hair is most likely what mine would end up looking like. We have the same hair "type."

My sister is also making the trek home for the weekend so she can spend some time with us while we're here, even though we'll see her next month in sunny FL. The plan for Saturday afternoon is to take AJ to the Children's Museum now that she is actually old enough to enjoy everything. Following that, we're going to order pizza from the neighborhood joint infamously known as "Little I." (Short for "Little Italian.")

Sunday we have another busy day planned, we're going to hang around in the morning, but then after nap we're going to head into the city to go to the Auto Show and then have dinner at my cousin's house. He and his wife have a baby who is about 8 months old now and the last time I saw her, she was a newborn! Crazy how time flies, especially with little ones!

That's the big excitement around these parts! I'll be back Monday to update on the weekend, hopefully with lots of pictures (if I remember to charge my camera tonight) of everything, including the new hair cut!

Breakfast, Anyone?

I've never been a breakfast at breakfast-time person. I much prefer cold pizza or leftover chinese food in the morning. Coffee? No, thanks, I'll have a Dr. Pepper at 7 am any day, though!

Does that make me weird? Is it gross that its 9:45 am and I'm eating hot and sour soup and pork fried rice? No, I'm not pregnant, I've just always been this way. Its not that I don't like breakfast food, I like bacon, eggs, pancakes, and waffles as much as the next girl, just not for breakfast.

D, on the other hand couldn't be more obsessed with breakfast. In fact, his favorite dinner is, you guessed it, BREAKFAST! The man could eat eggs until he turned into one.

AJ seems to be taking after her Daddy. Her favorite thing to eat in the morning is eggs! I've started adding shredded cheese to them to get some more calcium in her diet and she is in heaven!

We've noticed lately that she doesn't seem to be eating as much as she has in the past (we're thinking she might be sprouting another tooth here soon) and eggs are always a sure hit with her. At least I know that she's eating a good breakfast, even if I'm eating crab rangoon. ;)

Book Club

Yesterday AJ and I hopped in the car and headed down to post. It was the first time I have actually driven around on base and it was kind of fun to explore a little bit. We were headed to the gift shop run by the wives club to meet a few people from the area and we found it!

While we were there, the ladies invited me to their book club meeting they were having last night. I informed asked D and got the go-ahead to head out! So last night I met up with about 10 ladies at IHOP to talk about a book I haven't read the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. ;) Okay, there was some talk about the book, too!

Before you go thinking that I'm super brave to walk into a group of 10 strangers, I should let you know that several of the ladies there were people that I know from an Internet wives group I've been part of for a while. Anyway, I had so much fun! It was great to meet lots of people I've been emailing with for a few years and also to meet others as well! All of the ladies were so friendly and I felt like I fit in with them, which is nice. This particular group also does a Mexican night every so often in addition to the book club, so I'm hoping that hanging with this group will be a regular thing for me.

Its so nice to have time to myself and be able to get out of the house without AJ for a while. Sure, I go run errands on the weekend while D stays home with AJ, but this was actual ME time where I wasn't trying to get anything done and get home. I got to just sit, gossip about reality TV and laugh with {new} friends!

I am also excited to have a book to read for the next book club meeting! Its part of a series and after reading the blurb, I'm not sure how much I'll like it, but the last time I read a series (ahem, Twilight) I didn't think I'd like it either and I ended up enjoying it.

What do you do to meet new people when you move? Do you belong to any book clubs or other groups?

TGIF!

I think the title of this post says it all! This weekend will hopefully be a good one. To start it off right, I had an ice cream sundae for breakfast this morning. It really hit the spot. I usually try to be a good girl and eat something breakfast-y for breakfast, but for some reason, this morning I was just not feeling it.

I am not particularly crazy about breakfast food for breakfast anyways, but give me a bowl of cereal, pancakes, or waffles for lunch or dinner and I am there! I would rather eat pizza or leftovers for my morning meal any day!

Now I am trying to figure out what we are going to do this weekend. I think we are going to do movie marathons! I know D really wants to see The Goods, so we will probably see that tonight and then maybe even go see another movie tomorrow afternoon or evening, depending on the weather and what we have going on.

In other good news, I am 10 weeks pregnant tomorrow!
