I'm a twenty-nine year old Army wife currently living near a large Army post. I have an unhealthy obsession with Dr. Pepper, the Internet, cloth diapers, and ridiculous TV shows. I'm a stay at home mom to two beautiful daughters, AJ and Amelia. We also have a 6 year old beagle named Abby who is as dumb as a box of rocks.

Baby Stuff!

So FIL is here visiting the Pacific Northwest for the first time and D had to work today before he takes a 4-day pass tomorrow and Friday. FIL and I decided to do some shopping while D was at work because I knew that he wouldn't want to walk around Babies R Us all afternoon with us. Well, we got TONS of stuff that we needed for the baby!

We got a diaper genie, some bottles, some clothes, lots of blankets, a changing table pad, a cover for the changing table pad, a bath tub, a mobile, socks, night gowns, diaper cream, pacifiers, a formula dispenser for the diaper bag, a travel container for wipes, the baby monitor, baby wash, a swaddler, some hats, some cloth diapers for burp cloths, and a head positioner for the car seat.

Tomorrow we are going to Target to get some extra crib sheets, another changing pad cover and pack n play sheets. We might even get a stuffed animal or something if we see something really cute! I told FIL that I would rather get those things from Target because I know specifically that the sheets are about 1/2 the price of the ones that they have at BRU.

I'm just excited to finally have all the stuff! Tomorrow we're heading up to Ikea to get a dresser for AJ's room and possibly a rocking chair as well. Depends on if D likes the upholstered gliding swivel chairs they have at Macy's. Should be another fun day of shopping!

Typical Washington Day...

So today I got up to take the dog out and it is pouring rain! I guess I'm kind of used to it now, but for whatever reason, the dog wanted to take her own sweet time going potty this morning, so I was soaked!

I got a text from my Mom this morning letting me know that they closed on the condo in Florida! What a relief that must be for them! I talked to my Dad yesterday and he explained the crazy hoops they were jumping through yesterday! They were supposed to fly out of Chicago yesterday and there was a big snow storm, so a lot of the flights were canceled. They thought theirs might be also, so they wired the money down to the realtor and printed out all the contracts and legal documents (79 pages worth) to sign and have notarized. They FedExed the papers back, only after buying more paper and ink for the printer!

Well, turns out, their flight was not canceled, so they spent all that time running around trying to get everything ready and sent down there for nothing! They ended up making it down there! I think they're spending the weekend trying to find some basics for the condo. They said that they're planning on looking on Craigslist for furniture and stuff and they got some kitchen stuff from all us kids for Christmas.

All in all, an exciting day for them down in Florida, but up here in Washington, we are just enjoying the rain and getting ready for our next OB appointment this afternoon! We get to hear the baby's heartbeat again!

New Blog Layout!

So I finally got around to adding a background to my blog! It is no longer boring and plain white, in fact, I think its quite cute! I am going to be clicking around on the internet looking for other gadgets and widgets to add to make my blog even more fun! Its just too bad I don't really have anyone who follows my blog or really anything exciting to write about...LOL. It is still fun to look back at the things I wrote about, because sometimes I forget or like to look back and see how I was feeling about this or that.

I'll be messing around on here trying to add new features and things to my blog tonight! It will give me something fun to do on a boring Wednesday night. Other than wash the dog, that is, which is already done! She is starting on a shampoo regime for her itchy skin and she has to be bathed with special shampoo on day 1, 4 and 7, then sprayed with a special spray every few days for the rest of the month. Today was day 1. We will just have to wait and see how it works!

Nesting...

D had a 4-day pass this weekend, so we have basically spent the entire weekend cleaning out closets, reorganizing our stuff, putting together furniture and preparing the upstairs to welcome a baby to our house! We made a trip to Ikea yesterday and bought some dressers for our bedroom so that we would be able to move all D's clothes out of the nursery closet.

We are almost done moving all the upstairs furniture around and will have the crib set up in the nursery by tonight, so we will just be waiting on the bedding for the crib. I am also going to open up the Pack 'n Play so that it has a chance to air out before America comes!

This morning I moved all her clothes and most of the baby stuff from the dining room upstairs into the closet in the nursery. D's dad is coming to visit in a few weeks and we are going to be shopping for a bed frame for our bedroom and a rocking chair (and maybe a dresser/changing table) for the baby's room. We also have some Chinese paper cut-outs that my grandparents brought back from China many years ago that I want to frame and hang in her room. The only other thing that I want to do is paint wooden letters and hang them over the crib spelling out her name. Overall, we're making good progress. I'll post pictures when we get the crib in the room and again once all the bedding arrives!

Crib Bedding!

Today I ordered the bedding for the crib! We finally decided on one that we both like and I ordered it from Target.com this evening. We made a trip to Target and got the crib mattress as well. The crib we have is either very similar or the same one as in the picture below. It is the same finish and I think its the same model.Tomorrow we are going to start cleaning out the spare bedroom and the closet to get everything organized so we can move all A.J.'s stuff into her new room! I am excited for this to be done because it will not only be one less thing for me to worry about, but it makes everything seem more real as well!

I had my glucose screening this week at the lab, so hopefully I passed that and won't have to go back for the 3-hour test later on. I should find out next week when we have our next appointment.

Merry Christmas!

Just wanted to drop in and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday! We are enjoying our time back with our families in Chicago and had a wonderfull Christmas Eve, as well as a fun Christmas day so far!

We all got many awesome gifts and are enjoying playing with all of our new stuff this afternoon! We are gearing up for a big Christmas dinner and possibly a movie in the theatre later on tonight. I feel like we have been eating non-stop since we got into town, but I can't complain, the food has all been delicious.

Congratulations, Steph and Wade!

I got news last night that my friend from back home got engaged! I'm so excited for them and can't wait for their wedding this summer! Steph was a reader at our wedding and that was the first time I met her (now) fiance. They are perfect for each other and both so much fun!

They set the date for the wedding as July 3, 2010, so we should be able to make it and have a built in babysitter in Grandpa G! My parents will most likely be invited to the wedding as well and since Steph grew up about 100 feet from my parent's house, the wedding should be in my hometown.

Since it is 4th of July weekend, we should be able to take a few extra days of leave and make a little trip out of it. It will most likely be the first time that we head home with the baby, so it would work out pretty well (she will be about 4 months old). I am just so excited, I can't wait!
